I am recovering well from the bicycle accident. I am a strong advocate of wearing a helmet, and that paid off again. I remember my head slamming to the ground, and there is little doubt that it would have been tragic. Chelsea said I took the full impact of the wreck on my head. I am still a little scraped up, and still a little sore, but I think I am ready to get back on the bike and have a ride tonight!
Jessica is well on her way to recovery from her surgery. Her back still hurts some, and she won't be able to start school on the first day (August 24th). Other than that, things are looking pretty good for her. |

It is time for me to get serious about my plans to bicycle the Blue Ridge Parkway in the summer of 2011. I hope to be in Washington DC for Independence Day festivities, and then hit the road on the Skyline Drive and then on to the Blue Ridge. I am starting not only to get in shape for the trip, but also make plans of things to see and do. one sure stop: June Curry's house... For those of you who have never met The Cookie Lady, then you certainly have never cycled the Blue Ridge Parkway! So, now it's time to start checking out the National Park System for info on their campgrounds, getting books and literature, collecting websites, printing maps, contacting tour groups to see if we should go it alone and putting things on paper, because soon enough it will go from paper to pavement! |

I love movies, and watch a lot of them. Some people think my standards are very, very high. I personally tink my standards are very, very low. I will watch just about anything.
That being said, I do love them. I think some movies should be required viewing, some movies are issued, some movies I just love because they entertain me. For example, ALL the Planet of the Apes movies entertain me. I LOVE them. I don't feel a need to justify that. Sometimes you are simply a fan. Same thing goes for Marilyn Monroe. Love every movie she made. Since I am a a fan, my sense of objectivity is out the window.
Without getting into tooo much detail, I wanted to share some of my lists. Click the "read more" to see the rest.

Using the word "acronym" when "initials" should be used.
It is simple. An acronym is a word which is form by initials. Examples:
Scuba: Self contained underwater breathing apparatus
Laser: Light amplification by stimulated emission of radiation
IKEA: Ingvar Kamprad Elmtaryd Agunnaryd Fubar
Snafu: Systems normal, all fouled up
Fubar: Fouled up beyond all recognition
Examples of NOT acronyms:
CIA
FBI
I beg you! Stop using the word acronym when you mean initals! |

My space (NOT MySpace!)
To me it seems so vain to make a personal home page on the net. However, with the rise of Myspace, Facebook, etc. it seems that we all want a place to be. Some if us want to be part of a community. I am happy here by myself. |
